“Net Neutrality” Concerns Predicted to Ignite Due to introduction of LTE

The fourth-generation mobile technology, LTE (Long-Term Evolution), is coming up with a prediction of embracement by a wide range of subscribers to offer better and speedy access to the wireless data. This introduction is expected to result in better functioning mobile applications but can also initiate budding up of the issue of "net neutrality".

IP networks behind the cell-towers are defined by IPs are defined by some functions including PCRF (Packet Core Routing Function). PCRF is capable of providing the customers with much more refined control of how fine applications and services perform.

Alcatel-Lucent on Thursday, offered its PCRF software from LTE to 2.5G and 3G infrastructure. According to the company, 5780 Dynamic Services Controller, capable of functioning with both PCRF and 3G and LTE networks, is being tested and will be availed in the market by the end of this year. Alcatel is the first one to extend PCRF software as a part Evolved Packet Core.

EPC will probably segregate the scale for services offered among content providers and subscribers, subscribers and content providers; thereby igniting the argument for wireless net neutrality in US.
