Boeing to Increase its Production
Boeing to Increase its Production

Boeing Co. is revealed to have plans to accelerate its production for its 777 and 747 aircraft aimed to back the rebounding customer demand in the recovering airplane market increase.

The No. 2 plane maker giant revealed that it would boost the 777 program's rate to seven airplanes per month from the current five by approximately six months - taking the rate increase to mid-2011 from early 2012.

In addition, for its 747 program, the company plans to boost its production to two a month from 1 1/2, starting in mid-2012, a year earlier than prior plans.

"We see 2010 as the year of overall economic recovery within the industry and 2011 a year where airlines return to profitability", posted Randy Tinseth, Vice President of Marketing for Boeing's commercial airplanes unit.

The company revealed that the suppliers to both programs are all set to support the plans. Boeing doesn't hope the move to pose a substantial effect on this year's earnings.

The global airline industry has been severely damaged due to an economic meltdown that severely wounded travel demand and caused some carriers to postpone or cancel airplane orders.
