The summary records of the patients that were proposed to be opted by the Government, are still hanging in balance as it is not decided, whether to consult the records or not. Under this plan, it was thought that more than 50 million people will possess a health record that the doctors will seek help from, for knowing the medical history of the patients.
This scheme was sketched to make it easier for the nurses and the doctors to prescribe any of the treatments based on the previous records of the patient, especially during the emergencies.
But a draft report has revealed that the Summary Care records have a number of ambiguities and is not reliable. It was found that some major information regarding allergies or adverse reactions to drugs, were not properly reported in the record.
University College London’s reports are going to back the concerns of ceasing the implementation of Summary Care Record Plan which was initially proposed by British Medical Association.
The records were based on the information collected from the central database by GP practices and by now 1.2 million summary care records have been noted.
Official launch of the records will be revealed next month and the Department of Health officials denied commenting prior to that.
