Fathers Helping with Household Chores not Taken Well by Mothers, Study Says
University of Austin Texas

University of Austin Texas has reported an interesting fact related to mothers who tend to feel their self - esteem harmed if fathers participate in the household chores. The analyst evaluated the 78 participants bearing 8 months old babies, on the basis of two kinds of self - esteem, one is self- competence and the other is self - liking.

The parents were asked to talk about the strengths and weakness of their partners for the purpose of rating the self - competence of the mothers. Takayuki Sasaki, a researcher, said, "In the culture and society of America, women are expected to take a main role in parenting despite their work commitments and existing egalitarian sex roles".

He further added that working mothers are mostly hit by low self - esteem as they realize their failures of not meeting the cultural expectations of America.

The American mothers tend to experience low self - esteem if their partners spend more time with the children in her absence or prove to be better caregivers than them. On the other hand, the husbands do not undergo any negative experience as this is what is expected by the culture.

It has been noticed that most of the mothers are obliged when husbands help with household chores, but tend to reinforce them with negative feedback because the care giving style of husband is invariably different from the mothers.
