Canada Post is planning to buy over 1,175 Ford Transit Connect vans to refurbish its aging herd of delivery trucks. Yesterday, Ford Motor Co. of Canada made the declaration on its website. The different-looking van, with its high roofline and simple design, has become a rage for Ford, has won Truck of the Year honours at the Detroit International Auto show.
Ford quoted better fuel economy, security and versatility as reasons why Canada Post opted for the Transit Connect.
The Transit Connect will connect with small business proprietors, delivery organizations and possibly florist shops. The Transit Connect has been in exercise almost everywhere else in the world since 2003.
More so, in 2003, journalists from 17 European countries named it Van of the Year.
From the front, the van is like an ordinary front-wheel-drive car with a very comfortable set of front bucket seats.
Behind the steering wheel, you will observe a European-styled dash with the tach and speedometer taking over each side of the instrument case. In the middle at the top are minor gauges for fuel level and engine temp as well as a driver information centre.
Acceleration, however, is not up to Ford GT standards, but pretty good even when loaded.
Econoline will also do a good job in lowering your fuel bill by as much as $250 per month.
