Radical U.S. Health Care

The United States Parliament has passed a revolutionary health care legislation which ascertains that millions of uninsured Americans are covered under the State and U. S. Government led Medicare program.

The bill was put to vote and it received 219 votes in its favor. This victory manifests itself as a major triumph for President Barack Obama. The bill will soon be signed by the President which will furnish its transformation into a law.

The bill hopes to envelop nearly 32 million more Americans under the Medicare program. It is taken to be a major follow up after the creation of Medicare in 1965

Right before the bill was put to vote House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “It is with great humility and with great pride that we tonight will make history for our country and progress for the American people. We will be joining those who established Social Security, Medicare and now, tonight, health care for all Americans”.

The Congressional Budget Office approximates that the new law will cost $ 940 million over a span of 10 years. Besides ensuring that endemic proportions of American citizen are covered under Medicare, the bill also proposes to impose new taxes on the affluent, and curtail limiting insurance practices such as denying health insurance to people with pre-existing medical conditions.
