Valiant Sasha Leads CLIC Campaign

A valiant young cancer patient has proudly started a new charity drive in order to help thousands of kids just like him.

The four-year-old, Sasha Pfumojena, suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has become the lovable new face of Tesco's Charity of the Year drive that intends to raise £5m nationwide for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent in 2010.

Sasha is a Foxborough Primary School student, who was diagnosed with cancer last year. He was accompanied by his mother and CLIC Sargent social workers at the Tesco Extra in Wellington Street to publicly launch the campaign.

Mother Natalie, who shifted from Zimbabwe to Slough eight years back, said, "We have a CLIC Sargent social worker who has been very supportive, and we could not have managed without the visits from the nurses at Wexham Park, but in a situation like ours you can never receive enough help or support”.

She said that it would be great if they can raise sufficient funds so that families in their condition can possibly receive this level of aid no matter wherever they are.

"He has had to spend a lot of time in hospital which has kept him away from school, his family and friends but has been very brave for a four-year-old", she said.

By raising funds through the charity drive, Sasha and hundreds of children in a similar situation can receive most of their treatment at home with the help of a CLIC Sargent nurse.
