Health Care Reform Disputes Continue
Health Care Reform

On Sunday, The US House passed health care reform where the final number of votes received was 219 to 212.

Dr. Donald Condit, a Grand Rapids Surgeon stated, “They are going to run out of money. They are going to have to say no somehow and saying no is going to happen in Washington".

The President of the Kent Health Plan, Jim Tunistra agreed to this. "I am very much in favor of it. Things have changed so dramatically in our country in the past several years in regards to employment and insurance”, he said.

The Kent Health Plan offers medical care to about 8,000 people in Kent County who are not insured.

After Sunday’s historic house vote 32 million of those uninsured would very soon have insurance.

In the American history, there were issues which have caused more argument and partition than the dispute over health care reform; nevertheless, there have been very few things in this country that position to blow so many.

The Congressional Budget Office reported that the bill is estimated to cost $940 billion over a decade.

Tunistra believes it’s too early to know what the actual expenses will be but is sure that it would charge extra to do nothing.

He believes lawmakers need to work more to manage escalating health care costs, even though he does support the health care reform legislation.
