Swine Flu, commonly known as H1N1, has created a sense of uneasiness amongst people. This year, health care officials have been trying to calm the people down and trying to get a vaccine in the market.
According to the Department of Health Services, in November and December more than 2,600 cases were registered for this disease.
Tom Haupt, state influenza coordinator, said that the state had plenty of vaccine and after the students return from their spring vacation they will look into the matter closely.
The data, which was collected from the Riverside Country Public Health Department, showed that there were heaps of death reports when a second wave of swine flu came in October. It has also been noted that the cases were decreasing with the following months.
Dr. Eric Frykman, Riverside County's Public Health Officer, said that 45 residents in San Bernardino County had died and almost 40,000 people were vaccinated. It was reported that in April 2009, about 57 million people had swine flu out of which 17,160 people had died. It was also told by Frykman that, to get protection from Swine Flu, every individual must get two shots for both Flu strains.
Sign twirlers and community events were organized by public health departments in Riverside, and San Bernardino counties to encourage people to get vaccinated.
