Google Identifies Yet Another Revenue Stream, Tests Advertisement on Google Maps

Google, the highest visited search engine, has found yet another way to boost its income. Google maps, which are a basic web mapping service application, are opening up revenue streams for Google.

Google has added a new feature in its map utility, and it would be having the brand logos of the prominent business places on the maps, a service for which the companies would have to pay a handsome fee. It could prove to be another way for the companies to market themselves.

This service is being tested in Australia for a while, before it is launched worldwide. The feature would prove to be useful for the customers because while checking up the Google maps in Australia, it will be not difficult to find the shops and business places that are visited the most, and on zooming , it will be more easy to locate.

This would make navigation easier for the users. Google has already been approached by the various sponsors; few of them are Bankwest, LJ Hooker, and Chemist Warehouse. This approach can help the business in brand positioning as now in place of the generic icon, we would have proper logos on the maps, making recognition easier for the users. The search engine giant requires the advertiser to be listed before allowing the appearance of the logo on Google maps.
