Dark Coffee Creates Less Acid in the Tummy

Here's good news for dark-coffee drinkers.

A study reveals that dark-roasted coffee could generate less acid in the stomach than any other form of coffee.

It projected that French roast; espresso and other dark-roasted coffee are not injurious for the abdomen because they have a matter that sends a signal to the tummy to decrease acid production.

There's sign of relief amongst the vigilant coffee drinkers who usually avoided their morning coffee as they feared stomach irritation, ever since scientists have discovered the actual cause behind the heart-burn and tummy troubles.

Dr. Veronika Somoza from the University of Vienna in Austria, and Dr. Thomas Hofmann, from the Technische Universitat Munchen in Germany, who conducted the study stated that, "This discovery is going to help a lot of people who suffer from coffee sensitivity. As coffee-lovers, we're very excited about this research".

The study also projected that during the process of producing stomach-friendly coffee it could change the hearty flavor and aroma of coffee.

Caffeine, catechols and N-alkanoly-5-hydroxytryptamides were found to be the three chief compounds that lead to acid formation in the stomach.

While, surprisingly, it was also found that N-methylpyridium (NMP) appears to prevent belly cells from producing hydrochloric acid and because NMP is up to twice as concentrated in darker-roasted blends drinking dark-coffee could result beneficial.

Various assortments of raw coffee beans and different ways of roasting them are being tested by scientists in order to enhance beneficial NMP levels.

Later this year, they look forward to test the fresh brew in individual volunteers.
