Hospital Staff Demands Public Input from Queenstown Citizens

It has been reported, that doctors and nurses from the Lakes District Hospital demand proper clarity and more opinion from the public on designed alterations to Wakatipu Healthcare Services.

According to a doctor from the Southland District Health Board, changes brought into the Wakatipu Health Services were made without the involvement of the hospital's doctors and nurses, which left them completely astounded.

There were reports that if changes mentioned in the Integrated Family Health Centre plan were not made clear, then the existing healthcare system could take a step towards the rear.

"We need to make sure the very good level of care currently enjoyed by Queenstowners across the board, from general practice through to hospital services, isn't eroded or restricted", the doctor stated.

The apprehension to be able to accommodate the number or kind of patients for as long as required to stay in the hospital, as mentioned in the planned changes, was of major concern to the doctors and nurses.

Hence, the doctors-and-nurses assembly insists on Queenstown citizens to become as much concerned about the planned healthcare modifications.

The citizens were advised to attend the autonomous community health debate on Saturday, they have also been asked to make submissions on the District Health Board Hospital capacity analysis before it locks on April 23.
