Flower campaign around the corner

A new project that will coincide with the cancer month is being started by the Canadian Cancer Society. Box filled with daffodil pins are being given in Ladysmith. These are available by donation.

Janice Grinnell, president of the Ladysmith Canadian Cancer Society unit said, "They are the idea of the Remembrance poppy. It's a badge of courage. People are not in the fight alone against cancer."

B. C. and the Yukon are the test area for the daffodil pins and if these are successful then they can be of national level.

Grinnell said, "If it goes Canada-wide it would be quite an impact."

April 9 has been scheduled as the major daffodil-wearing day of the campaign.

The campaign was outlined to councilors on Monday by Fort St. John's Unit President, Teresa Walsh.

Since the late 1920's, Walsh said the Daffodil has been symbolic of the Society.
