Open Text, a Waterloo-based software manufacturer, has fastened a deal with Research in Motion in an attempt to offer clients access to their files on their BlackBerry.
Named "Open Text Everywhere", it's an application already available for Open Text users through the Apple iPhone and at present it is being widened to cover RIM's handheld device.
Two separate launches of the new technology are considered for later this year and in 2011.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Celcom Axiata Bhd declared the launch of Malaysia's first Blackberry applications competition.
It is called the League of Extraordinary Developers Challenge (LEDC) Contest for Blackberry Applications.
Celcom Axiata's Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly, said, "The LEDC provides a platform for up-and-coming developers to expand their creativity".
He said that through this contest, contenders will have the opportunity to further enhance their skills in creating exclusive new applications and mobile solutions to suit the requirements of all Celcom Blackberry users.
The contest, scheduled to run from May 1 to June 30, emphasizes on applications that are created chiefly for Blackberry smart phones.
