British satellite television provider, Sky has declared that it will initiate its 3D channel on April 3. The first to get the service will be the pubs, and by now, more than 1,000 have signed up for it. The service will be made available to inhabitants later this year.
BSkyB needs to form alliances and fasten deals with other groups, like the on screen graphics provider, Vizrt in order to make the programming as smooth and audience friendly as possible.
Sky Sports has picked Vizrt to provide the graphics for the all new 3D Channel, when it will go live next month.
The system will use two graphics cards that work with the two HD Channels in order to offer the 3D effect.
Sky Sports has already worked with Vizrt, since the company has provided graphics for Sky Sports and Sky Sports HD.
Sky will broadcast the Manchester United and Chelsea Premier League match in 3D for the beginning of the new service, which will be pursued by another 5 matches before the conclusion of the regular season. They will also show the playoff finals, which are set for the end of May.
Brian Lenz, the Director of Product Design and TV Product Development at Sky, says that the Manchester United/Chelsea match is appropriate for the 3D channel's launch.
He added that consumers at over 1,000 UK pubs will be able to witness the 3D magic.
