Despite the Great Depression: Mobile Phones Still Used by 91% Americans

In an annual conference in Las Vegas yesterday, the CTIA declared its results of the survey conducted on a semiannual basis to find out the performance of US wireless industry for the last half of 2009.

In spite of the financial recession, the results reveal that the wireless business has continued to grow due to the massive use of wireless services used by the US populace.

The survey showed that more than 285 million people in America are mobile users, which is about 91% of in all population.

Wireless service incomes added to $77 billion for the previous half of the year, up vaguely from previous year. But the actual increase is approaching from wireless data services-cell phone Web, text messages, and additional non-voice services. In the final half of previous year, income for wireless information service added in excess of $22 billion, almost a third of general wireless services earnings and up 26% from one year to the following ones.

The survey also showed that 257 million data capable equipments are fully in use on US communications networks.
