Kidney Damage Result of Undiagnosed Diabetes

According to new studies, it has been seen that the people who are suffering from diabetes and haven’t got it checked might be suffering from chronic kidney damage.

"Our research indicates that much of the CKD burden in the United States is in persons with pre-diabetes and undiagnosed diabetes, who are not being screened for CKD", comments Laura C. Plantinga, ScM (University of California, San Francisco).

The researchers say that border screening must be done to detect these silent and harmful diseases.

After the test had been performed, it was seen that 42 percent of the people with undiagnosed diabetes had CKD similar to 40 percent of those with diagnosed diabetes. The people who had undiagnosed diabetes and were having kidney and liver problems ,would be on a higher risk of making this disease worse which could cause cardio vascular disease and death.

Before diabetes is diagnosed, the harmful effects on kidneys may already be occurring. It is therefore suggested that early screening test should be done to avoid further serious problems.
