After 12 babies have been hurt by falling from the stairs, Evenflo gates are being recalled across North America which break or detach.

In Canada, around 33,000 Evenflo Top-of-Stair Plus Wood Gates have been sold, whereas in United States, more than 150,000 gates were sold. Around 26 accidents have been reported due to Evenflo from Canada, and from United States 142 incidents were reported out of which two children gained access to the stir case and hence fell down.

It was also reported that in Canada there was one minor injury, whereas in United States there were 11 minor injuries such as bumps, scrapes and scratches.

The models that have been affected by the recall are 10502 and 10512 that were sold between October 2007 and March 2010, and the products would be replaced by the company.

The company had already received two warnings on Wednesday and Thursday from Health Canada, and now the third warning was given.
