Cuts in Medical Reimbursements for Doctors at Month End

CQ Health Beat reported that the health care overhaul may now be in place, but doctors will still suffer from pay cuts in medical reimbursements at the end of the month. The President-elect of the American Medical Association revealed on Wednesday that doctors will continue to pursue an eternal fix for the system.

In order to advertise the benefits of the health care overhaul law, Cecil Wilson, a Florida based physician appeared at a news conference with Senate Democratic leaders.

This association had favored the overhaul by all means. If lawmakers fail to take action to stop it, about 20% cut looms by the end of the month and a Congressional break is scheduled to begin at the end of this week.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla, a doctor was interviewed by Modern Medicine, who shared that the federal Government has authorized shortage of doctors.

The doctor said, “There are things in this health care bill to correct the situation, but the plan we need most is to pay doctors what they are worth rather than some fixed price that Medicare sets”.
