AVG has come up with a Linux-based boot utility called AVG Rescue CD which is capable of integrating the AVG Anti-Virus and Internet Security software. It can be downloaded for free and can easily be stored in a CD or DVD and can also be put in a USB drive.
The utility provides the users a facility of recovering their computers which show problems of booting or remain affected by a virus. With the help of this utility, the computers start running properly.
However, AVG has not explained anything about the utility's updating ability. So it is tough to figure out whether the utility will keep up with the latest viruses and threats or not.
AVG's Marketing Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Lloyd Borrett, said that the AVG Rescue CD has been finding its adverse usage by a number of IT professionals as well as the system administrators, for years.
"The utility used to be sold as a commercial product but now AVG feels like all its customers should have access to this tool", he said.
It works by automatically escalating all hard drives of a computer. It then scans them for viruses.
