Proving last week’s rumors true, Microsoft has stated that the company is introducing USB storage for its Xbox 360. In addition to this, it has been reportedly said that the device will be made available following a software update that will probably occur by April 6.
This facility comes to gamers within 10 days from now. This will make it possible for the users to store up to 16GB of Xbox 360 content without being dependent on Microsoft's memory cards and hard drives for expanded storage on system.
After the usage of 16GB data on the USB or third party device, the left 1GB space can be used with a Mac or a PC. If two of the 16GB USBs are used, it can raise the capacity of the storage by external memory up to 32GB.
This information was disclosed by Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb on official website. Hryb also stated that the USB hard disk drives can work with updates and that the improved flash drives are advisable. The device, Hryb said will allow the users to store game saves, profiles, demos and other information as well.
This update will result in memory management functions which will permit an easy flow of data to be copied or moved.
Microsoft also announced that Xbox-branded SanDisk USB sticks for direct use with console will also be launched in May.
