Clearwire Corp., the major American carrier currently in the process of building out a high-speed wireless network, is reportedly tied in talks with various partners like retailers and consumer electronics manufacturers in order to expand, as has been shared by Chief Executive Officer Bill Morrow.
The potential partners of the firm, who would resell Clearwire's service, are inclusive of carriers that do not have the required resources to build out their own personal networks. Clearwire has plans of announcing the new providers over the coming months, Mr. Morrow shared.
He also revealed that various companies which are interested in purchasing a stake in Clearwire have sent in requests to the carrier. The firm won over $1.5 Billion in fresh investments over the past year.
Clearwire is currently busy developing the first countrywide "fourth-generation" network, which promises to offer much faster speeds and the new partners would help expand the network ahead of similar competing rollout from other major carriers like Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc.
"The landscape is changing, and it’s not just the classic carrier saying ‘I don’t have spectrum. It’s people in different fields and different industries that you wouldn’t think would be knocking on our door", said Mr. Morrow.
