Sun Bird-brand Spices and Seasonings Feared of Contaminated with Salmonella
Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Consumers are being urged by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to shun a number of Sun Bird-brand spices and seasonings, since it is feared that they are contaminated with salmonella. The spices have been added in the long list of salmonella-based food recalls issued by Health Canada in March.

The products which have been affected include Sun Bird Thai Fried Rice, Chop Suey, Chow Mein and Fred Rice.

Mincing Overseas Spice Company, which is based in Dayton, New Jersey, had distributed these spices across Canada.

Food which is contaminated with salmonella can cause salmonellosis. A person, who is suffering from the same, will develop symptoms like high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

People, who have weak immune systems, are vulnerable to deadly infections due to salmonellosis.

A lot of products manufactured in Canada and about 50 manufactured in the U. S. have been affected by the recall. The products contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled, revealed CFIA.
