American Airlines and JetBlue Airways Corp. have joined hands following an agreement in order to make the expansion plans viable at the famous New York's Kennedy airport.
JetBlue has promised to deliver 12 pair of landing and takeoff slots at the airport to AMR Corp.'s American, which has been credited to be the second largest airlines subsequent to Delta. The deal is not a one sided deal as JetBlue would also be obtaining eight slot pairs to initiate its flights at Washington's Reagan airport.
Robert Mann, owner of consultant R. W. Mann & Company, said, "Delta's Kennedy push meant American had to respond or risk losing its "historical dominance of the New York City corporate travel markets".
This partnership deal has been initiated by American Airlines after Delta tied up with Japan Airlines Corp. Fort Worth. The partnership deals will bring more alternatives for the customers as more flights will be introduced.
