Bowel Scan Program Coming to a Close
Bowel Scan Program Coming to a Close

The last day to obtain bowel cancer testing kits is very close. Under the Bowel Scan Program which is carried out by Bowel Cancer Australia, testing kits were distributed to pharmacies by the Rotary Club. The program will come to a close on the coming Saturday.

Bowel cancer has been reported to be the second most common cancer in Australia. Richard Lawson, the spokesperson of the Rotary Club in Cooma says there are many people who are unaware of the gravity of the disease.

He remarked, "Bowel cancer kills almost twice as many people as breast cancer, and it kills about three times as many people as skin cancer".

It is very important that bowel cancer is detected early. Its early detection will facilitate early treatment and stop the cancer before it spreads to other parts of the body.

This Bowel Scan Program is not related to the contentious National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. The latter has been undertaken by the Government.

Seeing the approaching deadline, a Monaro service club has stated that people should hurry to obtain the bowel cancer testing kit since time will soon run out for them
