Germany - Struggling German Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach has signed four new players in an attempt to stave off relegation.
The club announced Friday that they had signed Brazilian Dante.
The defender, who joins Moenchengladbach from Belgian club Standard Liege, joins goalkeeper Logan Bailly, Paul Stalteri and Tomas Galasek at the club, which is currently last in the Bundesliga.
Gladbach has conceded 34 goals in their 17 matches and as a result signed defenders Dante and Stalteri, as well as goalkeeper Bailly.
Sporting director Max Eberl said that they had managed to achieve what they wanted to achieve. "We clearly saw in the first round where our problems were."
Canadian Stalteri, who previously played for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, joined Gladbach from Tottenham Hotspur, while Bailly is a Belgian youth international, whose last club was KRC Genk.
Midfielder Galasek joins Gladbach from Czech club Banik Ostrau.
The Bundesliga club is said to have paid 7,5 million euros (10,2 million dollars) for the four players. (dpa)
