Baffled cyclists have scoffed a council following its launching of Britain's shortest cycle lane in a busy city centre - at just 8ft long, a feature believed to be the shortest cycle lane in Britain, has been established in a bid to encourage green transport.
It takes a cyclist less than a second to travel down the stretch before they rejoin the main road.
It is revealed that the council officials have spent nearly £2,000 in painting the red and white markings on the tiny stretch.
Cardiff Council claims that it will assist riders to navigate a turn on a new road layout safely and legally in the opposite direction to the flow of traffic.
“I posted a picture of it on the club forum and it's started a bit of a laugh”, quoted, Mr. Hughes, a member of Cardiff Ajax Cycling Club.
Campaigners are revealed to seek answers to their queries as to why the local authorities have spent money on the cycle lane, which takes less than a second travel time before rejoining the main carriageway.
