Nine People Face Drug Charges

After the Queen St. compassion club was raided, nine people were arrested for illegal drug distribution. The club was only allowed to sell marijuana for medical purposes. They gave marijuana to patients who were suffering from chronic diseases and HIV and also sold it otherwise.

The head quarters of CALM were raided by officers, who were in plain clothes, at around 3 p. m. This club was located at 106 Queen St. E and was also known as Cannabis As Living Medicine.

“Organizations like this have existed for a long time. It’s not a surprise to the police force that these organizations exist”, said Ron Marzel, CALM’s lawyer.

It was told by Neev Tapierok, who was the club owner and was arrested, that the club was established 14 years ago and this was the first time it was being raided. He also mentioned that the club has around 3,000 registered members.

According to the documents, the police have seized around 16,589 grams of marijuana, 1,940 grams of hashish, and 207 grams of hash oil. The cost of this would come around $ 218,404.

It is being planned by CALM to hold a protest rally on April 11 in answer to the raid that took place at Allan Gardens at 1 p. m.
