Software giant Microsoft has made an investment in a technology park with the purpose of doing research and development, rendering technical support and other services to China.
The technology park is Microsoft's first technical service park outside US and is situated in southeastern part of Shanghai, and was constructed with an expenditure of US$102 million.
Barbara Gordon, Corporate Vice President, Customer Service and Support, Microsoft, said that there are numerous methods where IT can afford to be extremely green.
It can be done by leveraging technicalities to provide better air-conditioning, improved power supervision; to make use of technologies in such a way that they are switched off when not in use.
Another method that can bring radical changes in the environment is by using low-radiation glass walls that keep the heat inside at the time of winter and cools the atmosphere at the time of summer.
An underground air providing system substituting central air-conditioning system, and mechanical movement sensors, preserve electrical energy.
The park at present provides houses to 1,500 workers but the number can grow to even 7,000 workers.
