Orion Health, an Auckland-based software firm, has stated that it has already started getting busy, doing business as a part of the new passed health reform law in the United States. It has predicted billions of dollars could be invested in health technology in the coming times.
Ian McCrae, Chief Executive Officer of Orion, said, “We concluded several large sales in the US in the last six months, as the reforms, which could see as much as US$30 billion go into electronic health records, took shape and funding began to trickle through”.
Only a month ago, Orion Health inked a contract with the Arkansas Department of Health, under which Orion's “Rhapsody integration software” would be introduced in its state hospitals. With this, emergency department data like influenza case reports would be reported back to the Arkansas Department.
Washington and Georgia’s health organizations have also freshly introduced Orion's software for quick sharing of emergency health records.
Mr. McCrae has stated that the recent U. S. health reform and mounting usage of health records in countries like Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, could shoot Orion’s annual growth up to 40%.
