Cadbury Closure Spoils Kraft’s Name

Lawmakers said that the food giant of U. S., Kraft Food Inc. of acting "both unwisely and irresponsibly" during the acquisition of Cadbury PLC, U. K. confectioner. This, they say have made a heavy loss for the Kraft in terms of its reputation.

This was stated by U. K. Parliament's Business, Innovation & Skills Committee, which reported that while its £11.9 billion purchase of Cadbury, Kraft made some sarcastic assurance of jobs.

It has been reported that during its four month quest of acquiring Cadbury's, Kraft made fake promises that the Somerdale factory of Cadbury in South-West England will remain functional and that this will save 400 jobs that initially Cadbury had decided to shed. But later Kraft again announced the offer on the date of the agreement but then a week later it was disclosed that plant will still be closed.

The report of the committee concluded that it can therefore be said that either Kraft was incompetent or it used a 'cynical ploy' merely to get a better place in public eye. The committee stated that it was disappointed that no clarification was received from the Kraft's Chief Executive Irene Rosenfeld in personally and also that the reputation of the company has been evidently damaged.
