After the much-awaited release of the iPad, Apple is considered to be preparing for the launch of the iPhone OS 4.0 update on Thursday.
According to AppleInsider, iPhone 4.0 will be expected to include full support for multi-tasking and permit third-party applications alongside Apple's applications.
Apple doesn't allow VARs to sell the iPhone, but Nick Gold, Senior Account Executive for Baltimore, Md.-based Chesapeake Systems is, however, thrilled to see what iPhone 4.0 will offer.
Gold said that multitasking does appear to be the main attraction that a lot of people are seeking in the update.
"The iPhone OS is currently capable of multi-tasking -- it's just that only Apple's own applications like Safari and the iPod software can run in the background", he said.
Last March, the iPhone OS was last updated with iPhone 3.0 Apple. That upgrade included cut, copy and paste, a characteristic, which iPhone users had been long desiring for.
Gold said that multi-tasking is very helpful to a lot of guys, but is most likely not critical for all users. Whenever Apple employs a major feature like this, they always ensure to do it better than anyone else on the market.
Earlier this week, Apple sent invitations to the media for the Thursday event at its Cupertino, Calif. campus, even though they didn't overtly say that Apple would unveil iPhone OS 4.0. Instead, the invitations displayed a picture of a number "4" together with a brief statement saying, "Get a sneak peek into the future of iPhone OS".
