Pink Shirt Day Celebrated on April 14

On April 14, the Okanagan Boys and Girls club is planning to participate in the pink shirt day to stop bullying. The activities that would be performed would be offering education, awareness and teaching skills to encourage sympathy building. The community was encouraged by organizers to wear pink on April. The pink color represents that bullying would no longer be accepted.

In Nova Scotia, Pink Shirt Day was invented after two young men stood up to bullying in their high school.

Pink Shirt Day became a success in Canada and now thousands of people wear pink to school and work.

Pink T-shirts are available at the London Drug stores for $5. They can also be ordered by contacting Miriam at 250-762-3914 or by emailing at mking@boysandgirlsclub.ca

A new student came to school wearing a pink T-shirt and he was bullied. To show support for the new student who was being bullied, other 50 students also bought 50 pink T-Shirts. From this day onwards Pink Shirt Day is being celebrated.
