Moan edges Lodwick, Koivuranta for Nordic combined win

Germany - Magnus Moan of Norway won a three-man sprint to the finish line to claim his second season win in Nordic combined skiing on Saturday.

Moan fought from seventh place after the morning ski-jump in the 10-kilometres cross-country pursuit where he crossed the line first in 25 minutes 22.8 seconds for his eighth career success.

American Todd Lodwick came second, three tenth of a second behind Moan. World Cup leader Anssi Koivuranta of Finland led the way after the jumping but eventually missed a third season win by four tenth for third place.

Koivuranta leads the standings with 443 points from seven events. Moan moved into second place with 351 and German Bjoern Kircheisen is third with 339 points after placing sixth on the day.

Another Nordic combined event is scheduled in Oberhof for Sunday. (dpa)
