Family Dollar Store's second quarter profits rose 33.4% or 81 cents per share.

Family Dollar said that it hopes to see its third-quarter income of 71 cents to 76 cents per share, up from 62 cents in the similar quarter the previous year. It sees equivalent sales for the quarter up 6% to 8%.

The concession dealer also lifted its earnings outlook for 2010 to between $2.48 and $2.58 per share.

According to the sources, forecasters on an average were expecting income of 78 cents per share.

On the NSE, shares of the firm closed at $ 37.79.
