In a forum organized by National University of Singapore (NUS) Student's Political Association, Deputy Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean while addressing 250 undergraduates stated that Singapore's DNA to be a young city-state is the reasons that will make the country prosper.
In Kent Ridge Ministerial Forum on Monday, the topic for the occasion was "Singapore - Forever Young".
This was to imply that today, even after 45 years of independence, the nation still is noticeably young, said DPM at the same time warning that the past victory does not promise the same in future.
Elaborating in the topic, he cited example of Ireland, which was termed as Celtic Tiger three years ago similar to the term that Singapore is crowned with : Asian Tigers, but a prosperous nation like Ireland was also not unaffected by the economic crisis as even faced the crisis.
He further warned that if Singapore wants that it should save itself from the same situation, the nation will have to adapt the altering situations.
Mr. Teo also said that "being young for city-states like Singapore" all that matters is "attitude of mind". He also highlighted to reserves and reliable investments that Singapore possess.
