The concluding days of the Government's scrappage plan led to a 26.6% increase in sales of new cars throughout March, though, new registrations continue to stay down on long-term comparisons.
March is conventionally the strongest operating month of the present year because of the new registration plate, which has been frequently accounting for almost a fifth of all cars sold per annum in the UK.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders gave a report, which stated that 397,383 new cars were registered the preceding month, significantly down on average sales for the month over the previous years of 418,404.
Shredding out the impact of scrappage, under which 49,487 fresh vehicles had been registered in the month, sales in March were 17% down on the ten-year’s usual time period.
The UK auto motor business has benefited from a better than expected first quarter of 2010, stated Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of the SMMT.
The approaching months will continue to challenge and because of this, the headline registration statistics are anticipated to plunge.
Renault, however, made into the list of winners.
