Food Allergies Often Misinterpreted by People

With a number of cases of food infections being reported in the US these days, experts are wondering whether they are food allergies or merely assumptions in people.

A majority of the people believe that they are being affected by food allergies which function by causing reactions in the immune system. However, this remains to be an assumption until proven.

Such self assumed health knowledge may also lead to excessive analysis of the infected person's health which sometimes results in over consumption of unnecessary food items as well as restriction from a particular food. Following this, problems like malnutrition are likely to hit them.

Two out of five citizens in America, live with this assumption that they are allergic to certain food items. The reactions common among most of the people range from mild headaches to severe gastrointestinal problems.

But, in reality the allergies are not so frequent and rarely affect more than 1% of the population. These allergies take place only when the immune system of a person gets pro-active fighting with majority of foods resulting in nausea, skin rashes or in severe cases, fatal distress.
