Official reports have revealed that Woolworths has decided to restructure its communications services over the next year after the end of an enterprise wide review which went on for 12 long months.
Under the proposed changes, the company is looking to take a flexible approach to telecommunications procurement, thereby establishing a framework that would encompass a wide range of various services modules.
"This approach will enable us to better leverage Woolworths' internal capabilities and combine them with the expertise of individual service providers. It will also provide us with greater scalability of services and deliver cost savings for our business", shared Woolworths CIO Dan Beecham in an official statement while revealing the shakeup plans.
As a part of the new restructuring plan, Dimension Data has been selected as the integration services manager of Woolworths. The companies will be working together under a 5 year contract to manage and take care of data services, telephony, security and the related infrastructure across Woolworths' many retail businesses which include food and grocery, liquor, petrol and much more.
Telstra, which is Woolworths' present telecommunications service provider, will continue to play its role as a service provider partner till any further decisions are taken.
