Studies Find: Depression Can Be Reduced With Transcendental Meditation

A stress busting procedure, which is known as Transcendental Meditation, could drastically help in relieving depression patients.

Two studies that had been carried out are going to be presented at the 31ST Annual Meeting of the Society of Behavioral Medicine in Seattle, Washington 9th April, 2010.

The studies had been conducted at Charles Drew University in Los Angeles and University of Hawaii in Kohala, which consisted of African Americans and Native Hawaiians, 55 years and older, who had been running the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Participants had been allocated on a random basis, to the Transcendental Meditation program or health education control group, and evaluated with a typical examination for depression at the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression record, over a period of 9-12 months.

Sanford Nidich, lead Author and Senior Researcher at the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management stated that clinically significant drops in depressive symptoms had been related with practice of the Transcendental Meditation series.

The study depicts that with the help of this form of meditation, there are indications of drastic improvements in mental health of patients and the risk of heart ailments also reduced significantly.
