Singapore - Singapore shares rose 3.18 per cent in thin Monday trading.

The Straits Times Index rose 54.96 points to close at 1,780.57.

The Singapore Exchange closed with 165 gainers against 161 losers.

Volume was 456 million shares.

Trade analysts said the market mood was cautious as businesses were bracing for an uncertain first half of the new year. (dpa)
