Reports are that various politicians from Oklahoma are now voicing their fierce opposition to the Attorney General's decision to not slap a lawsuit against the Federal Government over the newly passed, high-controversial, healthcare bill.
Edmondson, on Friday, shared that a lawsuit would end up challenging the constitutionality of the law and has almost no chances of being a success. He has shared that a legal challenge would be a complete misuse of the funds of his office. He called the whole exercise "futile".
"I am disappointed and extremely frustrated that Attorney General Drew Edmondson has ignored the wishes of Oklahomans and refused to join the bipartisan effort to fight the unconstitutional federal takeover of health care passed by President Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi", said Representative Mary Fallin (R), who is in the run for Governor.
Similar reactions have come in from other politicians, who feel that the decision is "incredible disappointing" and "a giant step backwards".
Edmondson, who is a Democrat and is also running for Governor, has clarified that political considerations did not have any part to play in his decision to not oppose or challenge the new bill.
