Dhaka - Bangladesh's interim administration urged the Israeli authorities to stop military actions in the Gaza Strip that left more than 300 Palestinians killed as Israel continued air raids for the third day Monday.
Expressing grave concern at the continuing violence in Gaza, Bangladesh's foreign affairs adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury in a statement called upon the Israeli authorities to resolve the conflict through negotiation.
"Peace in Palestine is the foremost challenge to international diplomacy today, and is attainable, only if there is commitment from all key stake-holders," the adviser said.
There can be no option but peace and the continued suffering of the people was unacceptable, Iftekhar added.
Muslim-dominated Bangladesh on Sunday expressed deep concern over the continuous air raids by Israel, saying the ultimate solution to the Palestinian issue depends upon adherence to relevant United Nations resolutions and upon the creation of Palestine as a sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Israel bombed Gaza for the third day running Monday, targeting the Islamic Hamas movement. As many as 313 Palestinians have been killed since the campaign started Saturday. (dpa)
