The problems of Toyota have been rising ever since the allegations related to the malfunctions were reported. After making a settlement for $16.375-million, it is probable that the U. S. auto safety regulators are all ready to put another fine on the major automaker.
A notice has been sent to Toyota in which it has been accused by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for not disclosing the various test applied to its problems and the huge changes which were made in the models available out of country.
The agency said, "The Japanese automaker would have faced a fine totaling $13.8 billion were it not for caps set by U. S. law on NHTSA penalties".
It has been claimed that the so far trusted auto maker has bared the dangers for the American citizens with the issue of the sticking accelerator pedal. It is being appreciated that the recall happened on time as it saved more lives.
Toyota has not shown any reaction towards the allegations of NHTSA and has not pointed out as to whether it has planned to agree to the fine or challenge it. If the company declines to pay the fine, it will start an everlasting battle against the U. S. Government which will not end soon.
