3D TV Launched in Australia by Samsung

Samsung has launched Australia's first HD 3D TV in Australia.

Samsung Electronics Australia head of marketing, Mark Leathan stated, "A full HD 50-inch Plasma will be about $2500. When we launched our Full HD 50-inch plasma this time last year, it was dearer, LED and LCD will start in the low $3000".

He believes that this is an inexpensive technology and a top end TV set would be taken and a 3D capability would be added.

It is said that the 3D functionality necessitates exceptional glasses for viewing, which cost about $129 per pair.

Telstra also publicized a joint venture with Samsung.

According to Telstra Director of media, Chris Taylor, the IPTV offer would be hosted on T-box and the TV itself through downloadable software in the coming 12-18 months.

The TV series will be sold to trade for between $2499 and $4799 with 3D Blu-ray players selling for $599. It is said that every products will be functional with all authorized Blu-ray 3D standards.

From April 19 onwards the LED and Plasma 7 series televisions will be obtainable via the wholesaler's trade channel counting Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman.
