Two Reports Claim Existence of Water on Moon

With the release of two separate reports which claim the presence of water on moon, this week, has strengthened the fact that Earth is no more the only heavenly body to have water on it.

The first report is based on measurements compiled by India's Chandrayaan spacecraft. The researchers found ice deposits around 2 meters thick, in undyingly-shaded regions of the Moon's basin.

It was published in Geophysical Research Letters, stating that as the moon has been assailed with water-borne substances like comets and meteorites and entrenched with solar wind hydrogen over geological time, few out these must have reached these cold areas.

Another study published in the same periodical, claimed that the gullies that have spectacularly enlarged in terms of size in the last few years, have witnessed these changes due to ice melting and re-freezing. One of these gullies has swelled from 2 meters to 120 meters in just 2 years.

The scientists had declared the existence of water on the Moon and Mars.
