The announcement by Opera Software to make the Opera Mini Browser available at the iPhone App store set a precedent for other mobile browser makers.
Another mobile browser developer, Skyfire, has revealed through a blog post that Skyfire proposes to accelerate its own development for "iDevices" like the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
Skyfire also congratulated Opera on its accomplishment. However, as its rival it could not go without revealing the flaws of the Opera Mini app for the iPhone.
Skyfire’s CEO, Jeff Glueck, was quick to point that Skyfire will facilitate and support Flash. It will also play back videos with the help of its mobile proxy browser. This he claimed, is not possible with the Opera Mini.
The Opera Mini browser is available to download free of charge. Opera Mini supports quicker browsing by condensing Internet data before presenting it on a mobile device. It is slated to be available for download on Wednesday.
Tor Odland, a spokesman for Opera, “This is certainly good news for us and this will help us expand tremendously in the United States. We are basically on every other type of device in the world and this covers a big hole for us”.
