Twitter to Launch Personal Link Shortener and Google Android Application

Evan Williams, Chief Executive of the popular microblogging website Twitter has shared officially announced that the firm will soon be launching its very own individual link shortener as well as a Google Android app.

It has been confirmed by Mr. Williams that Twitter would soon be introducing an "official" Twitter app for devices which run on Android. Co-Founder of the website further said that the company has decided that it would be making its own Twitter client as new users often end up finding it difficult to find the correct and apt software.

"We need to address these markets in a better way. We found we were under-serving users. We realized we had to have a core experience on these major platforms just like we do on the web, otherwise we are failing users", he said.

The announcements were made by Mr. Williams during Twitter's annual developer conference, Chirp.

Whether Twitter would be building the client in-house, employ the services of a third party by acquiring the technology from another firm like Swift or Twidroid has not been confirmed by the company yet.

During last week, Twitter had taken over Tweetie for the Apple iPhone. Also, it has collaborated with the BlackBerry maker Research In Motion in order to build an official BB Twitter app.
