Intel Launches Pocket Sized Device to Monitor Power Usage

A new pocket sized device has been launched by Intel which keeps an eye on the power used by the gadgets, the appliances in the house, toasters, computer monitors and video game consoles.

It is a small black box which is works by plugging it in a single power outlet. This device contains Intel Atom processor and has MeeGo operating system. The box has a sensor which senses the device being turned on and off. It gives details of electricity usage like within what hours a light or a fan was turned on and off.

The main focus of this device is to help the users reduce energy usage. It also displays a yellow and red mark which to informs, at what time of the day the prices of electricity were at its peak. With the help of this the user could avoid heavy duty tasks like washing machine and so on.

Custom setting could also be done by simply using the touch screen of the device. It was told by Intel that custom settings could be done like setting the thermostat temperature or turning off some appliances.

Energy could also be reduced by 15% to 30%.
