Google on Thursday announced a useful Gmail update related to the mail client that would make it both easier to use and more integrated with the assistance of the company's free Calendar service.
The first drag-and-drop attachments feature is revealed to enable one that drag files from your desktop machine directly to the e-mail message to upload them, much in the same way as the system Google implemented in its Wave service for photos and other media types.
The other new feature includes a follow-up to the experimental rescheduling feature the company released to its Calendar product just last month.
The feature works by adding a little "insert invitation" link just at the bottom of the subject line of outgoing e-mails. When clicked, it opens a Google Calendar invitation-maker in form of a pop-up that includes a visual of when there are open times to meet based on those people's schedules.
The drag-and-drop attachment feature is the latest spectacular feature. For those users on Chrome or Firefox who are operating Gmail as a standalone desktop Web app, this brings a wide array of functions and one that more analogous to a real piece of software.
